Smith enters Storm
When three-time U.S. Olympian Katie Smith steps onto the court for the Seattle Storm in today’s WNBA season opener, it’ll be for less money than she could have received elsewhere. It could be in a reserve role after starting 412 of the 417 total games she has played in the league. But her attitude about all that can be summed up with “so what?” Smith (pictured right) and the defending champion Storm will open the season hosting Phoenix (noon on ABC). The Storm will receive their championship rings and raise a second title banner to the rafters of KeyArena before facing Diana Taurasi and the Mercury. For Smith, her arrival in Seattle adds to an already deep roster and reunites her with Brian Agler, her first professional coach. – Associated Press
