Buck hurt in accident
Cleveland Indians outfielder Travis Buck (Richland) and his wife were shaken up in a taxi crash Friday in New York and sent to the hospital as a precaution.
Indians manager Manny Acta said Buck was slated to start Friday night against the New York Yankees. But in the morning, Buck and his wife were riding in a taxi in Manhattan when it was involved in a minor accident.
Buck came to Yankee Stadium and Cleveland’s training staff advised him and his wife to go to the hospital. Acta said Buck had “a little bit of whiplash” and was “a little dazed.”

Girardi, Acta have screaming match
Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Cleveland counterpart Manny Acta got into a face-to-face screaming match when both benches and bullpens emptied after Mark Teixeira was hit by a fastball from Indians starter Fausto Carmona.
Carmona threw a wild pitch in the second inning that was headed straight for Teixeira’s upper back.
Girardi was the first Yankee out of the dugout, rushing onto the field to usher Teixeira toward first base and away from a potential fight. The angry manager gestured at Carmona, and soon both benches and bullpens had emptied as players streamed onto the field.
