A whole lot of fragrance: May Vidmar, 89, takes time Friday to smell the wild-growing yellow roses in her yard on Euclid Avenue near Division Street in Spokane. They remind her of White Shoulders perfume. Vidmar said she first planted a rosebush in the area in 1966 but thinks this is an extraordinary year. “There are millions of roses. I’ve never seen this many before. I mean it!” Besides growing roses, she likes to yodel. (Dan Pelle)
