North Central boys to play for trophy

TACOMA – Beauty, it’s been said, is in the eye of the beholder.

Not even North Central boys basketball coach Jay Webber tried to sugarcoat what he saw Friday afternoon.

The most important thing Webber witnessed, though, was his Indians staying alive for a trophy in a 53-46 win over the Chief Sealth Seahawks in a State 3A tournament loser-out game at the Tacoma Dome.

NC (13-13) faces No. 1-ranked O’Dea (24-4) at 9:30 this morning for fourth and sixth places.

“It’s always special to get wins over here no matter how they come,” Webber said. “It wasn’t a pretty game by any means. We really struggled from the free-throw line (12 of 26).”

Zac Hill led NC with 19 points and 14 rebounds and Gunnar Swager had 17 points, six rebounds and three assists.
