Spurs make quick and easy work of Heat

NBA: Manu Ginobili scored 20 points, Tony Parker made a surprise return to the starting lineup and the San Antonio Spurs handed the visiting Miami Heat their most lopsided loss of the season, 125-95 on Friday night.

Parker had 15 points and eight assists. He returned less than a week after the Spurs feared he might miss up to a month with a strained calf.

LeBron James had 26 points and Dwyane Wade had 19.

• Rose scores 24 to lead Bulls over Magic: Derrick Rose had 24 points and Luol Deng added 16 to help the visiting Chicago Bulls hang on for an 89-81 win over the Orlando Magic.

Dwight Howard led Orlando with 20 points and 10 rebounds, but also picked up his 16th technical of the season. He faces a one-game suspension if the foul is not rescinded by the NBA.

• Nets beat Raptors in Europe’s first NBA game: In London, Brook Lopez scored 25 points to help send New Jersey to a 116-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors in the first regular-season NBA game played in Europe.

Deron Williams added 16 points and 11 assists.

• Cavs beat Knicks for third time: Baron Davis scored 18 points in his Cavaliers debut, leading a rally in the fourth quarter as visiting Cleveland beat the New York Knicks 119-115.

J.J. Hickson scored 23 and Luke Harangody also had 18, but the spark came from Davis in his first game since his trade from the Los Angeles Clippers last week. He scored 12 points in the final 6-plus minutes after the Knicks had built a 12-point lead.

Lakers break jinx: Kobe Bryant scored 27 points and the Los Angeles Lakers ended the Charlotte Bobcats’ inexplicable mastery over them Friday night with a 92-84 victory, their sixth straight win since the All-Star break, in L.A. The two-time defending champions had lost eight of their previous 10 meetings with Charlotte.

Kovalchuk’s goal gives Devils OT win

NHL: In Newark, N.J., Ilya Kovalchuk scored on a power play with 24.9 seconds left in overtime and the New Jersey Devils continued their playoff push with a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

• Flames beat Blue Jackets: Rene Bourque and Curtis Glencross scored power-play goals in a 1:21 span midway through the second period with Columbus’ Antoine Vermette serving a double-minor for high-sticking in the Calgary Flames’ 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets at Calgary, Alberta.

• Oilers’ Hall to miss rest of season: Edmonton Oilers rookie star Taylor Hall will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left ankle in his first NHL fight.

An MRI showed Hall, the first overall pick in the June draft, sustained a high ankle sprain Thursday night when he fell at the end of the fight with Columbus’ Derek Dorsett.

NFL, union extend CBA deadline a week

Football: Buying time to try to close big gaps on big issues, the NFL and the players’ union agreed to extend the deadline for negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement by a week.

The current labor deal had been set to run out Thursday night. But the sides used an initial 24-hour extension to discuss and vote on the second, lengthier delay. Now the league and union will take a break over the weekend. .

• Ducks hand over evidence of recruiting service use: Oregon says it has been contacted by the NCAA to provide documentation about its use of recruiting services.

The Ducks also said in a statement that school officials had contacted the Pac-10 Conference about payments to two agencies that purportedly provided information about potential football recruits.

Phelps takes another gold in 200 butterfly

Miscellany: In Indianapolis, Michael Phelps took the early lead in the 200-meter butterfly and held off Brazil’s Kaio Almeida to win his third gold medal at the Indianapolis Grand Prix swimming meet with a time of 1 minute, 55.34 seconds.

• Tarpley and Lloyd score as U.S. beats Norway: In Portugal, Lindsay Tarpley scored in the first half, Carli Lloyd added a goal in the second and the United States advanced to the Algarve Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Norway.

• U.S. splits opening Davis Cup matches: In Santiago, Chile, the United States split its Davis Cup tennis matches against Chile, with Andy Roddick taking the opener and John Isner losing a five-set marathon to Paul Capdeville.

Roddick opened with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Nicolas Massu, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist in singles and doubles.

• Stanley leads Honda by one shot: In Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Kyle Stanley shot a 4-under 66 at a windy Honda Classic to take a one-shot lead over Rory Sabbatini, who tied the tournament record at PGA National with a 64.

Alex Prugh (Ferris High) shot a 71 and at 145 made the cut by one shot.

• Vonn retains World Cup super-combined title: In Tarvisio, Italy, Lindsay Vonn kept her World Cup super-combined ski title.

She finished second to Tina Maze of Slovenia in the season’s third and final super-combined, a result that was enough to clinch the championship for the discipline.

• Nesbitt captures World Cup title in women’s 1500: In Heerenveen, Netherlands, Olympic champion skater Christine Nesbitt won the World Cup title in the women’s 1,500 meters despite finishing third at the season-ending meet.
