Ladies golf club to meet today

Latah Valley – The Hangman Valley Ladies 18 Hole Golf Club will have its first meeting for the 2011 season this morning at 9 a.m. at the Hangman Valley clubhouse.

The Ladies will play a round of golf following the meeting, weather permitting.

Holy Names holds music benefit

RIVERSIDE – Holy Names Music Center will hold its fourth annual Community Music Benefit Concert, “Live at the Fox,” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave.

The evening is a musical revue, featuring the performers of Spokane’s Community Music School. The event will kick-off Jazz Appreciation Month.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support Holy Names.

StageWest stages ‘The Foursome’

CHENEY – StageWest Community Theatre will perform “The Foursome,” beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at Showalter Hall at Eastern Washington University.

Said to be the “funniest play they have ever performed,” the story of the reunion of four college friends who haven’t seen each other for over 20 years, will be the theater company’s final play of season.

Other performance dates include Saturday at 7 p.m.; Sunday at 3 p.m.; April 8 and April 9 at 7 p.m.; April 10 at 3 p.m.; and April 15 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.

Flower, garden show planned

CHIEF GARRY PARK – Spokane Community College will host a flower and garden show April 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Lair-Student Center, Building 6, 1810 N. Greene St.

The show will feature “larger-than-life” spring floral and garden exhibits, a judged flower show and lectures and demonstrations from some of Spokane’s most notable gardeners.

There will also be a fresh flower market, including house plants, organic greens and herbs, along with honey and baked goods for sale and arts and crafts booths.

Children can enjoy a “magical sprout room” where they can plant a pot or create an arrangement and have their picture taken, complete with a flower fairy’s autograph. Cost is $1.

Admission and parking are free.

Center marks 25 years

BEMISS – The Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St., will host its 25th annual celebration and dedication on April 19 at 5:30 p.m.

The evening will begin with a self-guided tour, neighborhood entertainment and a light meal.

The event will include a keynote speaker Carlos Olivares, the executive director of the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.

Tickets are $9 per person and may be purchased in advance or at the door. Reservations are requested by April 12.
