‘Sherman’s Lagoon’ gets another shot

One of our final test comics brings back a familiar face, er, fin.

“Sherman’s Lagoon” follows the misadventures of the lazy, overweight Great White shark; his hot-tempered wife, Megan; and a cast of supporting characters including Fillmore the sea turtle, his son Clayton, and Hawthorne the hermit crab.

It previously ran in our Sunday comics section, but was removed in 2007 to make way for “Tundra.” Several readers told us at the time that it was the wrong strip to get rid of.

So what do you think? Does “Sherman” deserve another chance, at least on Sunday?

This is the final strip we’ll be testing in the space previously occupied by “Get Fuzzy.” Since many of you already are familiar with it, we’ll start taking votes on it this week.

And if you haven’t already voted on the test strip it replaces, “Red and Rover,” please do so now.

Just call our comics line at (509) 459-3814, or send an email to comics@spokesman.com, and rate each strip on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Also state your age and gender, to give us a better idea of who likes which comics.

Voting on our latest test panel, “Bizarro,” will begin next week after you’ve had a chance to see some more of it. As always, thanks for your help.
