Reardan, Colfax advance to 2B district title match

Top-seeded Reardan and No. 2 Colfax won twice apiece Thursday at St. George’s to advance to the title match of the District 7 2B volleyball tournament.

Colfax and Reardan will meet at noon Saturday at Colfax High for the No. 1 berth to the state tournament. The loser will play at 2 p.m. against the consolation survivor for the second and final state berth.

Lauren Schulz had 12 kills and five aces as Reardan swept Davenport in the semifinals. Chantel Heath added 30 assists for the Indians. For the Gorillas, Miranda Mielke had 12 kills and Maranda Brantley added 10 assists and 12 digs.

Kelsey Moos had 10 kills and two blocks as Reardan opened the day with a sweep over Springdale. Heath added 17 assists and Michelle Tinsley had eight digs for the Indians.

Amelie Bruya finished with 28 assists, nine digs and four aces as Colfax swept Northwest Christian in the semifinals. Taylor Larsen added 13 kills and three blocks for the Bulldogs. For the Crusaders, Sarah Batterton had nine kills and 10 digs, and Davyn Russell added nine kills, six aces and three blocks.

Colfax opened with a sweep of Kettle Falls as Becca Hardie had seven kills, Bruya 16 assists and Larsen four blocks.

Davenport began the day with a 3-2 win over Lind-Ritzville/Sprague. Mielke had 20 kills for Davenport, and Kylie Hudkins added 20 digs. Davis Killian guided LRS with 20 kills and five blocks.

NWC defeated Liberty 3-1 in its opener. Katra Browning guided Liberty with 12 kills, five aces and four blocks.

Liberty bounced back with a 3-1 win that eliminated Kettle Falls. Browning had 17 kills and Mikayla Cornwall added 22 assists and eight aces. Kourtney Keenan led KF with seven kills and five digs.

Liberty will meet Davenport at 10 a.m. Saturday at Colfax in a loser-out match.

LRS avoided elimination by knocking out Springdale 3-0, powered by Killian’s 10 kills. Jenna Bennett added 16 assists for LRS. The Broncos will meet NWC at 10 a.m. Saturday at Colfax in a loser-out match.

• Wilbur-Creston and Almira/Coulee-Hartline qualified for the State 1B tournament after five matches were played during the District 7 1B tournament at Hunters and Coulee City.

Host ACH advanced with a 3-1 win over Odessa-Harrington. Brynna Stevens had 13 kills and Madeline Isaak 20 assists for ACH.

W-C qualified with a 3-1 win over host Columbia. Kaelee Reed had nine kills and six blocks for the Wildcats. Mackenzie Parrow led the Lions with 13 kills.

Reed had 13 kills and six blocks as W-C began the day with a 3-1 win over Selkirk.

O-H opened the day with a sweep that eliminated Wellpinit. Chelsea Fisher led the Titans with 16 kills. Charli Moffet added 28 assists and Jordan Tanke had 16 digs and three aces.

O-H then defeated Cusick to advance to the semifinal against ACH.

The tournament shifts to Northwest Christian on Saturday. In loser-out games, Selkirk will meet O-H at 11 a.m. and Cusick will play Columbia at 1 p.m.

W-C and ACH will decide the district title and seeding to state at 3.

The survivors from the first two matches will play at 5 for the third and final berth to state.
