Injured University of Oregon running back LaMichael James suffered a dislocated right elbow in the Ducks’ victory over Cal on Thursday night in Eugene, Ore. Oregon head coach Chip Kelly does not allow comment on injuries, and it isn’t known how long James will be out. James on Thursday became the sixth player in conference history to rush for over 4,000 yards.

Announced A person familiar with the decision says Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail is leaving the team. The person spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Orioles hadn’t announced the move.

Suspended Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman has been suspended three games and fined $1,250 for head-butting Daniel Paladini of the Chicago Fire. Beckerman sat out Saturday at Los Angeles and will serve his additional two games Friday and Oct. 22.

• The NCAA suspended Ohio State wide receiver DeVier Posey for five games – leaving him with only two regular-season games in his senior season – and three other Buckeyes for one game for taking too much money for a summer job. Offensive lineman Marcus Hall, defensive lineman Melvin Fellows and last year’s leading rusher, Daniel Herron, will miss today’s game at Nebraska.

Fined Baltimore All-Pro defensive tackle Haloti Ngata has been fined $15,000 for lowering his helmet into the back of New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. Washington linebacker Rob Jackson was fined $15,000 for driving Rams QB Sam Bradford to the ground.

Agreed Michael Waltrip Racing and Clint Bowyer agreed to a three-year deal that will give the team a third car in the Sprint Cup, joining David Reutimann and Martin Truex Jr.

Withdrawn Top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Shanghai Masters because of a back muscle injury, delaying his return to competition. Djokovic says he has not recovered from the injury he sustained in winning the U.S. Open.

Named Colts QB Curtis Painter will make his second straight start on Sunday against Kansas City. Coach Jim Caldwell said Painter played well enough in Monday’s loss at Tampa Bay to earn the job.
