Grafos understands Valley culture
It might seem flattering when those who have “lived and traveled all around the world” finally choose Spokane Valley to put down some roots. They could have chosen Spokane with its classic tight-grid downtown and quintessential neighborhoods or Liberty Lake with its new urbanism and planned communities, but for some reason they were drawn to Spokane Valley.
It’s not so flattering when these world travelers presume to save us from our “bumpkin” ways and remake us in their vision of a “proper city.” In fact it’s borderline insulting when they attempt to shame us for putting property rights ahead of government overreach and try to discredit those who defend the practical values that built this community.
Thankfully we have Councilman Dean Grafos, who recognizes and appreciates the uniqueness of Spokane Valley. He doesn’t feel the need to invent a new identity (via West Coast consultants and SARP) to feel proud of our distinctive community. He believes the future of Spokane Valley lies not only in protecting existing investment but expanding opportunities for new businesses and jobs. He’s worked tirelessly in support of a responsive city government and a lean municipal budget.
If you want a councilman who actively listens to citizens’ concerns, knows Valley culture and respects our past enough to know it is the right foundation for building a bright future for Spokane Valley, please join me in voting for Dean Grafos, Spokane Valley City Council, Position 2.
