Tribal Bellydance Classes – Dance Fundamentals (Level 1): Covers the basic slow and fast dance steps including posture, body awareness, formations, finger cymbals and combining steps. Six-week sessions start Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. and Sept. 10, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tribal Combinations (Level 2): Participants refine their technique, learn new variations and explore the improvisational format and formations in greater depth (must have completed one six-week session of Level 1). Free Quilting Classes – The Colfax Branch of Whitman County Library presents a three-part quilting class based on the book “Underground Railroad Sampler.” Wednesday and Sept. 14 and 28 at 6 p.m. at the Colfax Library, 102 S. Palouse Plein Air 2011 – The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission are looking for painters ages 18 and older to participate in the second annual Palouse Plein Air 2011. Competition begins Sept. 29 with three days of painting in a variety of locations. All painting mediums welcome. Applications can be picked up from the Art Office in City Hall, 206 E. Coeur d’Alene Mayor’s Awards in the Arts – The City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 16th Annual Mayor’s Awards in the Arts. Nominations may be submitted by art organizations, individuals or businesses and must be received by Tuesday. Nominees may be businesses, organizations or individuals who have, through distinguished service or creative accomplishment, made a significant contribution to the arts in Coeur d’Alene, but need not be based or have residence actually within the city limits.
