CCS volleyball wins again

Kate Hart had 13 kills, four aces and four blocks to guide the Community Colleges of Spokane volleyball team to a 26-24, 25-16, 19-25, 21-25, 15-12 win over Clackamas in a nonconference contest in Spokane.

Joni Nagy dished out 38 assists and Lindsay Bronkhorst had 26 digs for CCS, which remained perfect on the season at 10-0.

CCS will host the Inland Northwest Communications Invitational today and Saturday.

Prep football

Wallace 50, Clark Fork 0: Casey McKinnon ran for two long touchdowns and Wallace trounced on Clark Fort and beat the host Wampus Cats in a North Star League game.

The game was called in the third quarter due to the 45-point mercy rule.

McKinnon also caught a touchdown from Gavin Rasmussen in the first quarter.

Prep volleyball

Greater Spokane League: Lewis and Clark dominated in the first set and went on to beat visiting Ferris 25-7, 25-16, 25-22 in both teams’ league opener.

Mercedes Montoya had 12 kills and Khou Moua added 11 digs and an ace to guide the Tigers.

Inland Empire League 5A: Chelsea Waters had a team-high 14 kills and five blocks to lead the Bengals to a 25-22, 25-23, 30-32, 25-27, 15-12 win over the visiting Trojans.

Allison Meehan had 16 kills and Tori Bertsch had 23 assists to lead Post Falls.

Intermountain League: Marlee Masterson had eight kills and five kills and Jaylee Sines handed out 18 assists to lead St. Maries to a 25-19, 25-10, 25-9 win at Bonners Ferry.
