Interstate Fair notice

The basics

Theme: “Carats of Fun (Celebrating our Diamond Anniversary).”

When: Today through Sept. 17, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Where: Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St.

Cost: $10/adults, $7/seniors 65 and older and youth 7 to 13, free/children 6 and under. Grandstand show tickets available in advance through TicketsWest (800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com).

Promotions

Today: Kids Free Until 6, youth 16 and under admitted free until 6 p.m. courtesy of the Kalispel Tribe.

Sunday: Patriots Day, free admission for military/firefighters/law enforcement with ID.

Tuesday: Senior Day, free admission for those 60 and older.

Wednesday: Safeway Family Day, ages 17 and under (accompanied by a paying adult) admitted free with a Youth Pass from Safeway stores.

Sept. 18: KXLY’s Coats for Kids Special, bring a new or gently used coat and receive a free ticket for a child 13 or younger.

Music

Neal McCoy, Monday, 7 p.m. - Cowboy country singer, $5-$20 plus fair admission

Osmond Brothers, Tuesday, 7 p.m. - Jimmy joins older brothers Merrill, Wayne and Jay, $5-$15 plus fair admission

Weird Al Yankovic, Wednesday, 7:15 p.m. - The curly-haired pop parodist, $10-$25 plus fair admission

Joan Jett, Thursday, 7 p.m. - Bringing the love for rock ‘n’ roll with her Blackhearts, $5-$20 plus fair admission

Switchfoot, Sept. 16, 7 p.m. - San Diego rockers dare you to move, $10-$20 plus fair admission

Grandstand shows

PRCA Rodeo, today-Saturday, 7 p.m. - Professional competition for prize money and titles; “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” tonight, come in pink to support breast cancer awareness, $5/$7 plus fair admission

Compact Car Demolition Derby, Sunday, 5 p.m. - Preceded by the Lawn Mower Races, $5/$7 plus fair admission

Monster Truck Show, Sept. 17, 2 and 7 p.m. - Featuring the legendary King Krunch plus Captain USA, El Matador and Double Trouble, $8/$10 plus fair admission

Demolition Derby, Sept. 18, 4 p.m. - The big boys go at each other in fender-crunching action, $5/$7 plus fair admission

9/11 anniversary event

Patriots Day Memorial Ceremony, Sunday, 1:30 p.m. – March and procession to the Grandstand Arena for a free program featuring a bell ceremony, flag folding, 21-gun salute, “Amazing Grace,” “Taps” and more, with local law enforcement and firefighting representatives and the Spokane County Pipe and Drum Band.

Free entertainment

Racing Pigs, daily, 11:30 a.m., 2, 4, 7 p.m. - The popular porcine sprinters compete for Oreos and Twinkies.

Kids Pedal Tractor Races, daily, 11 a.m., 1:30, 5, 6:30 p.m. - Children duel on pint-size John Deeres.

Kids Mutton Bustin’, daily, 1, 2:30, 4:30, 6 p.m. - Kids aged 3 to 6, under 60 pounds, try to ride wild and wooly sheep.

Penelope the Clown, daily, noon to 8 p.m. - Look for her strolling the grounds.

Plus plenty of singing, dancing, juggling, hypnosis and more each day on the North Stage.
