Prep roundup: Cheney, Coeur d’Alene top Farragut meet
Coeur d’Alene runners took the top spots in the boys and girls large-school divisions at the Farragut Invitational Saturday at Farragut State Park near Athol, Idaho.
The Vikings boys, led by Cody Curtis and Michael Dunton, took the team title.
Curtis was the individual champion, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 57.5 seconds. Dunton crossed in second place in 17:06.
East Valley’s Cody Edwards (17:09.8), Sandpoint’s Sam Levora (17:15.7) and Coeur d’Alene’s Ben Woolley (17.16.3) rounded out the top five.
East Valley took second place and Lewis and Clark was third.
In the boys small-school division, Bonners Ferry’s Mitch Krmpotich crossed in 17:27.1 to take the title.
In the girls large-school race, Coeur d’Alene’s Josie Brown (19:50.2) was the individual champion, but Cheney edged the Vikings for the team championship.
The Blackhawks’ Sanne Holland (20:02.3) and Amie Zachman (20:31.9) finished second and third, respectively. University took third place.
In the girls small-school division, Riverside’s Jess Mildes took first place with a time of 19:55.5.
• Shadle Park’s brother-sister duo of Nathan and Kendra Weitz represented eastern Washington to the fullest at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle.
Kendra Weitz took first place in the girls race, completing the 5,000 in 17:21.98. That time was 50 seconds faster than the previous meet record.
The Central Valley girls took third place led by their top finishers Alexandria Moore and Skye Sanders. Shadle Park came in sixth.
Nathan Weitz was boys champion, completing the course in 14:33.68. He finished more than 7 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Jacob Smith of Wenatchee.
The Highlanders boys took seventh place.
• The Lewis and Clark girls took third place at the South Whidbey Invite at Langley, Wash.
The Tigers were led by Calli Vanderwilde, who finished the 3.1-mile course in 19:53, good enough for 10th place.
Glacier Peak’s Amy-Eloise Neale, one of the nation’s best high school runners, was the individual champion in 17:49.
• The Central Valley boys took second place at the Salt Creek Invitational in Port Angeles. Cory Hunter was the Bears’ top finisher, completing the 5,000 in 15:27.03, good for seventh place.
• The Medical Lake boys and Pullman girls won team titles at the Clarkston Invitational.
ML’s Cardinals were led by Peter Loeffler, who took fourth place by completing the 5,000 in 16:37.47. Waitsburg-Prescott’s Seth Deal was the individual champion with a time of 15:43.63. The Moscow boys were second, followed by Asotin, Pullman, Lewiston and Clarkston.
For the girls, Sarel Loewus finished first in 18:55.84 to lead Pullman’s Greyhounds to the victory. Asotin was second, followed by Moscow, Lewiston and Grangeville.

Nonleague: Jake Aune threw a touchdown pass and Jared King ran for a score and LaCrosse-Washtucna (3-0) beat host Odessa-Harrington (1-2) 30-14.
Girls soccer
Intermountain League: Kianna Aros and Dani Pickering scored two goals apiece to guide Kellogg to an 8-0 win over visiting Priest River. Kellogg goalkeeper Lauren Cooper, having the rare chance to play offense, capped the scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute.
