Dance instructor attends to kids
A lifelong passion for fitness and dance has led a Spokane Valley personal trainer to her next venture.
Pam Chalpin recently purchased the year-old business called KidFIT Spokane and tweaked it with a new location and classes to accommodate her exercise and dance instruction.
“I’ve been dancing since I was very young,” said the New York native who has made the Inland Northwest home for some 16 years. “It was my passion.
“I’ve always had a dream of teaching dance to children. … I love dance and I love fitness. You can have academics but you have to have a balance of activity,” added Chalpin, who previously worked as a ballet instructor for the company.
The new KidFIT owner hopes to instill a lifelong joy for healthy activity with fun and energetic classes taught by a handful of instructors.
Class lineup includes a variety of fitness and dance catered mostly to ages 18 months to 13 years old. Classes start for toddlers with a parent child song and movement class. Others include ballet, tap, hip-hop, cheer, gymnastics, kid cardio, and kid Zumba Latin dance, with a variety of levels starting with introductory.
Costs range from $35 to $45 per month for each class that meets weekly, with regular new member specials and family discounts.
Chalpin continues to offer personal and corporate fitness training for adults and youth along with nutrition counseling through her company Chalpin Fitness.
With a business management background and school-age children, Chalpin says she was prepared for the opportunity to grow her business that would let her share the joy of exercise for all ages.
The studio is located upstairs at The Hub Sports Center in Spokane Valley.
