Free Comic Book Day

Local shops are participating in Free Comic Book Day next weekend:

• Lightning Comics, 411 W. Haycraft Ave. in Coeur d’Alene, will give out free comics while supplies last May 5. The shop will be open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Information: (208) 667-2400.

• In Spokane, Merlyn’s is expanding the celebration to two days. Patrons may choose two free comics on May 5 and 6. There will also be artists doing free sketches for children and a costume contest. Merlyn’s is at 19 W. Main Ave. Information: (509) 624-0957 or www.merlyns.biz.
