Fight at campground ends in double homicide

A fight at a Pend Oreille County campground ended in a double homicide early Sunday morning. The Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s office said deputies responded to reports of a stabbing or possible shots fired at 12:20 a.m. Sunday at the Yocum Lake Campground area, 10 miles south of Ione of Leclerc Road North. Deputies found a group of about 10 people ages 18 to 24 who had been drinking alcohol at their campsite. A fight between two males, Steven Q. Divine, 22 and Richard R. Hill, 18, both of Spokane, had broken out some time during the night. They were both dead at the scene, Divine with an apparent stab wound and Hill with an apparent gunshot wound. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. Both the Washington State Patrol and U.S. Border Patrol are assisting in the investigation.
