Utah St. player collapses at practice
SALT LAKE CITY – A Utah State basketball player who collapsed at practice and stopped breathing has been hospitalized in critical condition.
Intermountain Medical Center spokesman Jess Gomez said Tuesday that Danny Berger is in critical condition at the hospital in Murray.
University spokesman Tim Vitale said that emergency responders had to use a defibrillator to get Berger breathing again during practice earlier Tuesday.
A spokesman for the school’s sports teams, Zach Fisher, says the status of today’s game at Brigham Young University is unknown.
The junior from Medford, Ore., is a starting forward for the Utah State Aggies. He averages 7.6 points per game and 3.6 rebounds.
