STCU donates to education centers

Spokane Teachers Credit Union has donated $5,000 to career and technical education centers in the area.

“We’re particularly excited to support these programs, which give students options in fields that are expected to provide jobs for decades to come,” STCU President and CEO Tom Johnson said.

Spokane Valley Tech will offer 10 programs when fully operational that will focus on science, technology, engineering and math. There are four programs already under way, and the building is expected to open next month.

“This generous donation will go a long way toward providing a great learning environment for Spokane Valley Tech students,” Central Valley School District Superintendent Ben Small said.

The credit union also presented $5,000 to the Riverpoint Academy, serving students in the Mead School District, and the new Kootenai Technical Education Campus in Rathdrum.
