Canceled West Virginia has decided to cancel its Sept. 8 football game at Florida State. School officials informed Florida State they would pay a $350,000 escape fee to shelve the trip.
Cleared Police in eastern Pennsylvania have cleared IndyCar driver Marco Andretti of any involvement in breaking a gate at a municipal parking garage in Bethlehem, Pa. Police initially accused Andretti of being one of three men who pushed the exit gate and left without paying Thursday night. But they said surveillance footage later showed that Andretti hadn’t touched the gate.
Suspended Ticket sales for the NFL’s annual game in London have been suspended while the St. Louis Rams try to solve an issue regarding the lease on their stadium. NFL UK said that the Rams “have expressed optimism that a resolution is near” and it expects the ticket sales to resume shortly. The Rams are slated to host the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 28 and have agreed to give up a home game in each of the next three seasons to play in London. That apparently clashes with the team’s lease on the Edward Jones Dome.
Out The Atlanta Hawks say reserve center Jason Collins will miss the next two weeks with a sprained left elbow. Collins was injured Thursday in a home loss to Memphis.
• Rookie point guard Brandon Knight broke his nose in the first quarter of the Detroit Pistons’ game against the New Orleans Hornets in Auburn Hills, Mich. He was elbowed by teammate Greg Monroe while going for a rebound.
Considering The Kansas City Chiefs are in discussions with Brian Daboll to become their new offensive coordinator. Team spokesman Ted Crews said that Daboll has not been hired, but the two sides remain in discussions. The former Dolphins offensive coordinator could be introduced Monday.
• Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may try to extend Thierry Henry’s loan from the New York Red Bulls. Henry has two matches remaining before he was expected to return to Major League Soccer.
Resigned Egypt soccer federation president Samir Zaher and his board of directors resigned, having already been fired by Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri following a riot at a game in Cairo that left more than 70 dead.
