NEWMAN LAKE – Newman Lake Fire District 13 will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Mondayto discuss the district’s plan for a new fire station. A ballot measure to fund a new station failed at the polls in November. The district wants to replace Station 1, which is small and doesn’t meet current building codes. Monday’s meeting will be at Station 1, 10236 N. West Newman Lake Drive.
Music, auction tonight will benefit patient
SPOKANE VALLEY – The Eagles Lodge, 16801 E. Sprague Ave., will host an evening of live entertainment and a silent auction from 7 to 10:30 tonight for Spokane resident Kim Pierson.
Pierson recently broke her left femur and had to undergo several surgeries. She will need to have three more operations in order to make a full recovery. As a result of her accident, Pierson lost her home and car.
The benefit will include live music by Chris Ellenberger and the silent auction will include a one-week stay in a Maui condo and a handmade quilt.
An account also has been set up for Pierson at Washington State Employees Credit Union, 2523 W. Northwest Blvd., in the name of Sandra J. Ham.

Sprague project will be topic of open house
SPOKANE VALLEY – The staff of Spokane Valley Public Works will host a second open house about the Sprague Avenue Reconstruction Project from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road.
The meeting will give residents an opportunity to review proposed traffic routing and provide information about the project as plans are finalized. This summer’s project to reconstruct Sprague Avenue between Evergreen Road and Sullivan Road is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks. The project will require temporary lane closures as well as closures of some driveways.

TAC presents ‘Hunchback’ starting Thursday
SPOKANE VALLEY – Theater Arts for Children will perform the Victor Hugo classic, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” beginning 7 p.m. Thursday at West Valley High School, 8301 E. Buckeye Ave..
The show is adapted by Craig Stump and directed by Cameron Anderson. Other performances will be 7 p.m. Feb. 18, 22-24 and March 1-2and 2 p.m. March 4.
Tickets are $10. For children 12 and younger, tickets are $8. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

SPOKANE VALLEY – Booths are still available for the spring craft fair at Opportunity Christian Fellowship, 1313 S. Pines Road, on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
