Northwestern Mutual plans 55 new jobs in region
Northwestern Mutual is hiring 55 Spokane-area workers to fill jobs working with financial service customers in the Northwest, the company announced.
Based in Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual is considered the nation’s largest provider of life insurance. It has expanded its role to provide a range of financial planning services for individuals and businesses.
The jobs to be filled are for 25 financial representatives and 30 financial representative interns, a company spokeswoman said.
Some of those positions will be in Spokane; others will be in district offices, including Wenatchee, the Tri-Cities, Yakima and North Idaho, the spokeswoman said. As of 2011 the company’s Spokane office had about 90 workers.
The new jobs are being filled as the company anticipates growth in demand for financial planning across the Northwest, a news release noted.
Salaries for both jobs are determined in large part by incentives and commissions. Representatives are expected to build a client list and establish ongoing portfolio reviews, estate planning and policy reviews for those customers.
While salaries will vary with performance, the average salary for representatives after one year is $45,000 and increases to $110,000 after five years of service, the company reports.
Job interviews will be conducted in person at a job fair Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. Applicants can also submit résumés online at hubbellfinancialgroup.nmfn.com.
Northwestern Mutual’s internship program has been named among the top 10 of its kind in the nation. It’s designed to provide a mentored training program that matches younger representatives with company veterans.
