Died peacefully at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital on January 25, 2012.

He was born in Rochester NY, May 6, 1940, and has been a resident in the Spokane, WA area for 37 years.

Don served 24 years in the Air Force, 11 years as a Family Support Center counselor/director with the Air Force and 31 years as a Roman Catholic Deacon in the Diocese of Spokane.


Don was married to the former Mary Lou Conway, a Spokane native.

They raised six children and have 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, father and one sister.


Besides giving much of his life to ministry in the Catholic church, Don served as a Nightwalk minister, Hospice of Spokane volunteer chaplain, delivered Meals on Wheels and always had an affinity for the down and out.


Services to celebrate Don’s life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Vigil service will be at 7:30 pm Friday, February 3, 2012.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 4, 2012.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don’s name to: Night Walk Ministries, Hospice of Spokane, the Holy Names Sisters, the Poor Clare Sisters or Meals on Wheels.
