Obituary: Boggs, David G.
BOGGS,
David G.
A lifetime resident of the Spokane area slipped into eternity shortly after celebrating his 81st birthday surrounded by his family.
He was born June 29th, 1931, in the family home at Deer Park, Washington.
David was the middle child of five born to William Preston and Myrtle Boggs.
David was working at the Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant when a friend introduced him to the love of his life, LaVonne Mertes.
They married on October 15th, 1954.
The couple settled in north Spokane and started their family.
Dave completed the apprenticeship program and began his career as a maintenance electrician and rectifier operator with Kaiser shortly after he and LaVonne had their fourth child.
Dave was a life-long sports enthusiast and avid outdoorsman.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.
He was a big fan of all the local college and pro teams; he, particularly, enjoyed the Mariners and the Seahawks.
He passed his passions to his children, and was very active during their childhood as a coach, mentor and cheerleader.
He supported their endeavors in everything they chose to do.
David enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything.
Whether camping, square dancing, or any of the myriad of other activities the family participated in, he loved the adventures that life brought him.
David believed solidly in the promise of eternal life provided by the Lord Jesus Christ.
He felt certain he would be reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death: his parents, his two older sisters, Laura and Betty, a younger brother, Mel, younger sister, Judy, and his grandson, Timothy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, LaVonne, at their home in Blanchard, Idaho, his son, Vern, and Kathy Boggs of Spokane, daughter, Laura, and Jim Hammond of Deer Park, daughter, Deanna, and Tim Bren of Potlatch, Idaho, and son, David and Sharon Boggs of Moses Lake, a cherished niece, Terry Jean Wood, of Prineville, Oregon, 12 grandchildren, Mindy, Olivia, Richard, Leon, LaVonne, Adrian, Emily, Colton, Lily, Sarah, Spencer and Isaiah, one great-grandchild, May, and many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A gathering to celebrate David’s life will follow at Audubon Park.
