GAUL, John S.
(Age 64)

Passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Spokane WA.

John was born April 6, 1948 in Missoula, Montana to Jim and Vi Gaul.

He graduated in 1966 from Loyola High School where he played athletics and was Salutatorian of his Class.

John received his Bachelor’s degree in 1970 and his MBA in 1972 from Gonzaga University.

In 1970 he received his US Army commission through the ROTC department at Gonzaga.

He spent his Officer Basic Training in 1972-1973 in the Medical Service Corps at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.

He was honorably discharged in 1978.

In 1970 John married Patricia Chilton in Helena MT.

She was the love of his life and his best friend.

They have five beautiful children: Mark married to Lisa in Kent, WA, Erin married to Jon Boland in Spokane, WA, Ryan married to Caitlin in Portland, OR, Michael and Alexa in Seattle, WA and Evan in Seattle, WA.

He is survived by his six grandchildren: Brian, Jessi, Matthew, Silas, Jude and Eliza.

John has four siblings: Martha Anderson of Missoula, MT, Bill Gaul of Missoula, MT, Frank Gaul of Butte, MT and Joan Jensen of Missoula, MT.

His sister Jamie Vandling preceded him in death in 2007.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John’s joy in life came from his family and his Catholic faith.

His main interests were golf, reading, his Montana Grizzlies and the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

John was a professional salesman, starting his career with the Burroughs Computer Company in 1973.

He also worked at Spokane Computer and First Index over a 40+ year career.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 7:30 PM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 12 E. 5th Spokane.
