Saints, Brees remain far apart in talks

Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS – A person familiar with contract negotiations between the Saints and Drew Brees says the two sides remain more than $10 million apart in guaranteed money.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the negotiations are ongoing and neither side has publicly discussed financial details.

The Saints are offering an average pay of $19.25 million while Brees is seeking closer to $20.5 million a year. There is a larger difference in size and structure of guaranteed bonuses.
