Tinman hosts ‘Ozvitational’
The 10th annual Garland Street Fair is still a few weeks off, on Aug. 11. That hasn’t stopped one Garland District business from getting a jump on the “Wizard of Oz”-themed fun.
The Tinman Gallery, 811 W. Garland Ave., will open its popular “Ozvitational” show today with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring “OzCream” from the Milk Bottle. Nearly 40 artists have submitted works based on the “Wizard of Oz,” either drawing from the 1939 Judy Garland classic or the original L. Frank Baum stories.
The works cover all media – jewelry, painting, drawing, mixed media and metal and ceramic sculpture included. Among the artists featured are Sheila Evans, Kay O’Rourke, Larry Ellingson, Sister Paula Turnbull, E.L. Stewart and Mel McCuddin. The show runs through Sept. 15.
