In brief: More than 1 officer fired on Idaho fugitive
Investigators said Tuesday that more than one officer fired at a North Idaho fugitive early Monday, killing him.
Police previously had not confirmed whether one or multiple officers fired at Justin Earl Nicholas Todd, 33, who led police on a chase early Monday before he was shot.
The Post Falls police officers involved in the shooting are on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
Investigators continued Tuesday to conduct interviews and process evidence, which they said could take several days to complete, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department. Lab results could take several more weeks.
The Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether the shooting was justified.
Investigators confirmed that the chase ended in the St. Estephe Court cul-de-sac in west Hayden, where Todd struck an Idaho State Police trooper with his vehicle before he was shot. The trooper was knocked to the ground by the force of the car and suffered minor injuries.
Todd was pronounced dead at Kootenai Medical Center.

The victim’s purse was missing.
The thief is described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, 5-foot-11 with a thin build.

Police seek tips in thefts of Nook tablets
Police are looking for tips on two thefts of Nook tablets from the Spokane Valley Barnes and Noble bookstore in two days.
Photos and video released Tuesday show two men considered persons of interest in the theft of tablets from the store at 15310 E. Indiana Ave. on March 4, as well as a thief who burglarized the store early March 5.
In the last incident, officers responded to an alarm at the store at 5:52 a.m. and found a tire iron on the ground next to the shattered window. They believe the burglar targeted the Nook kiosk, because cash registers and other merchandise appeared to be untouched.
