Obituary: Holeman, William Alden “Bill”

Born December 9, 1927, in Abilene, Kansas, Bill passed away March 14, 2012, in Spokane Valley, Washington, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Bill grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He served in the United States Army, retiring after 21 years.
While in the army Bill was sent to Germany and met the love of his life, Erna, his Frau of 57 years.
When he returned to the United States, Bill and Erna, along with their children, traveled to many states as he served his country.
Bill and Erna spent time traveling by camper seeing the country, visiting all of the 50 states, and making many memories.
He enjoyed time with his family and had a passion for golf and fishing.
Bill is survived by his wife, Erna M.; daughter, Christine F. (Frank) Abrahamson of Oxford, Massachusetts; son, William D. (Barbara) Holeman of Vancouver, Washington; and daughter, Shirley M. (Joe) Hernandez of Spokane, Washington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ethel, Doris, Shirley; and brother, Gerald.
Bill’s extended family in Germany will always remember him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William V. and Ethel Pearl Holeman; sisters, Twila, Irma, and Wilma; and brother, Cecil.
Bill’s family supports the Parkinson’s Resource Center of Spokane, which has many activities and resources for the Parkinson’s community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Resource Center of Spokane, 910 W. 5th Ave., Suite 256, Spokane, WA 99204-2973.
