Obituary: Brawner, Judith Mary


BRAWNER, Judith Mary (Mace)

Passed away Sunday, April 29th, 2012 at her home in Dalton Gardens.

Judie was born in Spokane, Washington to Earl and Viola Mace.

Judie lived on the South Hill of Spokane and attended St. Augustine Elementary School and then Holy Names Academy.

She later attended Fort Wright College in Spokane and then Eastern Washington State College where she received her degree in education.

She married Roger Conrad Axlund in 1961 who was killed while serving in the US Air Force in 1963.

Later she married David Brawner in 1966 and moved to Cheney, Washington.

David was killed in a car accident in 1971.

In 1972 Judie met Dick Flugel and they moved to North Idaho where they purchased a home on the East side of Hayden Lake.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Viola Mace, and her previous husbands Roger Axlund and David Brawner.

Judie is survived by Dick Flugel of Dalton Gardens; her son Roger Scott Axlund and his wife Andrea of Hayden, Sue and her partner of Oregon; sisters, Katie Mace and Janet Watson; of Spokane and two grandsons Ricky and Kenny Axlund.



Judie loved her family and spending time together with family was very important to her.

The holidays were always spent with family sharing the events, stories and memories from the past.

Judie enjoyed the time in the out of doors.

Her activities included snow skiing, ridding snowmobiles, ATVs and on occasion even riding her horse at the lake.

She also enjoyed shopping and going on business trips with Dick, especially if they included playing golf, dinner and some shopping.

Judie really enjoyed the final years of her life at home where she got to spend two or three days a week with her grandsons that would come to spend the day.

Judie will be missed by her family and friends.

She always put family and friends first and would do what ever was necessary to ensure their health and happiness.

Viewing will be 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M Thursday, May 3rd at Yates Funeral Homes Hayden Chapel.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, May 4th at YATES FUNERAL HOME in HAYDEN, IDAHO and Judie will be put to rest at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens in Dalton Gardens.
