SWINGER, Erma Ruth (Michels)
On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, after a short illness, Erma joined her husband, Roscoe, in Jesus.
Born on September 23, 1922 in Buckley, WA Erma was raised in the Okanogan Valley.
There she met and married Roscoe (Ross) Eugene Swinger.
They moved to Chewelah in 1941, when Ross obtained employment at the Magnesite Plant.
Erma loved homemaking, gardening, needlework, cooking and was a voracious reader.
She is survived by her children: Dennis Swinger (Katherine) of Lind, WA, Judith Homburg (Jim) of Chewelah, WA and Kathleen Schneider (Dick), of Chewelah, WA; siblings Charles Michels, Gene Michels, Harvey Michels, Leota McMillian, Mary Hammons, and Paula Cain.
Her grandchildren are: Shelley Hepler, Leslie (David) Sweetwood, Dennis (Erin) Swinger Jr., Blaine (Stephanie) Morgan, Susanne Salita, and Meegan (Tony) Rhew, as well as two step-grandchildren, Terry Homburg and Charlene Hein, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51years, Roscoe Swinger, in 1991, her brother Don, and sisters Marion, Vivian, and Joyce.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the United Church of Christ, Chewelah, WA.
