Man seriously injured in scooter crash

From staff reports
A 56-year-old man was in critical condition at a local hospital following a scooter collision Wednesday night in northeast Spokane. When Spokane police responded to the intersection of Haven Street and Wellesley Avenue around 9:30 p.m., they found the man unresponsive and lying next to a three-wheeled scooter. Police said witnesses and evidence at the scene showed that the man had been driving south on Haven when he lost control of the scooter and it tipped over. It did not appear he was driving too fast and he was wearing a helmet, a news release from the police department said. As of early Thursday morning, the man was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.
