Obituary: Johnson, Daniel C.

JOHNSON, Daniel C. “Dan”

Departed this world on Sunday, October 28, 2012.
Dan was born November 7, 1920 to John “Jack” and Jennie Johnson.

He had two brothers, Merrill and John.

He spent his youth in Metaline Falls and graduated from High School in 1938.

He attended George Pepperdine College in California, until he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942.

Dan trained as a pilot and served in Europe with the 15th Air Force, 434th Bomb Group (H) as a co-pilot on B-24 Liberators flying over 50 missions over Germany, Hungary, Romania, Austria and other European countries.

When he returned to the United States, he married Louise “Dottie”.

They made their home and raised their children in Spokane.

He retired from the Bon MarchĂŠ in 1987
Dan was deeply dedicated to his wife and family.

He enjoyed playing golf with his three sons and took pride in his three daughters.

He was preceded in death in 2010 by his wife of 65 years.

He always missed her.


He is survived by his children: Linda (Mrs. Robert) Jenkinson of Elk; Daniel Johnson, Jr., and wife, Tracy of Missoula; David C. Johnson and wife, Trish of Kennewick; Del C. Johnson and wife, Terry of Spokane; Louise C. Poodry and husband, retired Colonel Mitch Poodry of Spokane, and Lori Main, husband Jeff, of Bainbridge Island, WA
Dan leaves behind a legacy of love with 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012
at Red Lion Hotel at the Park, West 303 North River
Drive, Spokane, WA.

An informal service will began
at 1:30p.m., followed by a time of sharing memories
over refreshments hosted by the family.
