In brief: Body may be missing woman’s

SEATTLE – Investigators with the King County Sheriff’s Office believe a body found on Vashon Island over the weekend is that of a 27-year-old woman last seen on Tuesday.

The woman’s father reported her missing around 8:30 p.m. Friday, and a body was found on Vashon Island Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Cindi West said there were no obvious signs of trauma and investigators don’t know how she got there. The cause of her death had yet to be determined.

The woman’s identity had not been released.

Couple admits to large pot operation

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – A Sedro-Woolley couple pleaded guilty Friday to charges stemming from an extensive marijuana growing and distribution operation maintained from their home where they raised their toddler daughter.

Jeremy Grande, 36, pleaded guilty to five counts of drug dealing, money laundering, unlawful firearm possession, manufacturing marijuana and reckless endangerment.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 6 and is expected to serve 3  1/2 years in prison.

Lacee Grande, 28, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture or deliver drugs, money laundering, reckless endangerment, first-degree theft by welfare fraud and false verification of a welfare form. She was sentenced to eight months in jail.

Hazmat team called to UW dorm

SEATTLE – Several people at a University of Washington residence hall reported feeling sick Sunday afternoon, prompting a hazmat response.

The Seattle Fire Department said some people at McMahon Hall were being evaluated by medics but were not transported to a hospital. The residence hall was evacuated for about two hours while crews investigated.

Seattle Fire spokesman Kyle Moore said they found no hazardous materials leak and the people who initially said they felt sick later said they felt better.
