I always thought of San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh and his 49ers as a throwback team.

But the old-school Niners suffered an old-fashioned, butt-whupping last week thanks to the Giants, who showed they’re still the team to beat in the NFC.

I got an email from Shane Kinder, from Othello, Wash., who said I should give his beloved Seahawks some respect, especially after they rallied from a 13-point, deficit vs. the Patriots last week.

All right, Kinder, here you go: Congrats to your Seagulls. But there’s some hope against what should be an angry 49ers squad: Underdogs are 57-32-2 (64 percent) against the spread this season. Pick: 49ers
