Obituary: Wilkinson, Maria

Age 84

(Age 84)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 24, 2012.

She was born on December 18, 1927 in Wilkichen, Czech Republic, her family later moved to Erbendorf, Germany.

Maria met and married the love of her life Donald Wilkinson, while he was stationed at a nearby Army base.

They traveled back and forth to Germany and all over the US until finally settling in Spokane, when Don retired in 1968.

Maria enjoyed being a homemaker and preparing traditional German dishes for her loved ones.

She took pride in her home and it was apparent by all the beautiful plants and flowers.

Maria was affectionately known as “Oma” to many (except for her youngest great-granddaughter who called her “Elmo”).

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Steven) Henjum; three granddaughters, Charlene (Isaac) Parker, Samantha (Craig) Smith, and Jennifer (Ezra) Bocook; along with her extended Henjum family; and finally her four great-grandchildren, Ava (4), Mallorie (3), Samuel (3), Aubrey (1), who were always able to bring a smile to her face and brighten her day.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Comfort Keepers and Holy Family Hospital for all their wonderful care and compassion.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Donald, son Karl, and daughter Antonia.

A graveside service will begin at 12:00 Noon on October 30, 2012 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
