NFL refs: The blame game

Are the owners solely to blame for the recently ended lockout of the NFL officials?

Doesn’t the NFL officials’ union bear any responsibility for the length of the negotiations? 

Isn’t it possible that their demands for more money and pension benefits were a bit greedy?  Weren’t they being a tad obstructionist by fighting the NFL’s desire to have a mechanism that would remove officials who prove to be inept?
