Knute Rockne delivered his “Win one for the Gipper” speech there in 1928 to inspire the team against Army. The 1946 battle against Army featured four Heisman Trophy winners and ended in a scoreless tie.

Briefly: The Bearcats looked to be trouble when starting quarterback Munchie Legeax went down early with a season-ending injury, but Brandon Kay was terrific in coach Tommy Tuberville’s first season. It’s the second straight trip to Charlotte for Cincinnati, which beat Duke here last year. Tar Heels quarterback Marquise Williams also was an injury replacement and leads the team in rushing with 531 yards.
