Two arrested in Valley after ramming a patrol car

Two men led Spokane Valley deputies on a pursuit early this morning before ramming a patrol car. Deputy Juan Rodriguez spotted a Ford Explorer near Argonne Road and Mission Avenue that was reported stolen Monday, said sheriff spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory. He tried to initiate a stop, but the driver accelerated, leading authorities on a pursuit that reached speeds of 60 to 80 miles per hour. Rodriguez hit the vehicle, causing it to spin and come to a stop facing west on Broadway Avenue. Deputy Seth Berrow joined the pursuit and the deputies tried to use their cars to block the driver in, but the driver accelerated again and rammed Berrow’s marked car, getting stuck on its bumper and hood area. Jordy S. DeBoer, 21, who authorities identified as the driver, was charged with attempting to elude a peace officer, first-degree assault, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a stolen vehicle, all felonies. The passenger, identified as Gary G. Walker, 19, was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for third-degree theft. They were apprehended about 1:10 a.m. and booked into the Spokane County Jail. Berrow was not seriously injured in the collision.
