Obituary: Daugherty, Ralph H.

DAUGHERTY, Ralph H. Ralph Homer Daugherty of Deer Park, Washington passed away on June 25, 2013, at the age of 85.

Ralph succumbed to pneumonia, complicated by leukemia and chemo treatments that he had been battling with for the last 4 years.

Ralph was born into Lewis and Velma Daugherty’s large family of 10 children on July 25, 1927, in Elk, WA.

He quit High School to join the Navy during World War II.

After the war he returned to high school and earned his diploma.

While working at Kaiser Ralph met and married Agnes Baynes on November 5, 1954.

The following year he worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement 33 years later.

Ralph’s hobbies were bowling, golf and watching all of his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 58 years Agnes Daugherty; his three children Janice Wise (Butch), Doug Daugherty (Ruth), and Kerri Leliefeld (Dave); and eight grandchildren Justin, Jamie, Kandace, Johanna, Justin, Elisha, Hannah and Sarah; and numerous great-grandchildren and his last surviving sibling Alberta Holt (Skip).

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday July 6, 2013 at St. Mary Presentation Catholic Church at 602 E 6th, in Deer Park Graveside interment will follow with Military Honors at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane.

A reception will follow at St Mary Presentation Catholic Church at 602 E 6th, in Deer Park at 1:30 pm.
