Gay set for Nationals

Sprinter Tyson Gay is back at full speed and hardly giving his surgically repaired hip a second thought as he heads into the first round of the 100-meter race at today’s U.S. championships. That’s quite a contrast from a year ago, when his aching hip was a constant source of concern going into the Olympic trials. He was just hoping that his hip would hold up, which it did and he made the team for London. But he wasn’t quite the same sprinter. This season, Gay may be in his best shape in years. His coach, Lance Brauman, said Gay is “in a good place right now.” So much so that Gay is actually considering running the 200, too. – AP
