Eastern Washington University Athletic Director Bill Chaves has been honored by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as one of 28 winners of the Under Armour A.D. of the Year Award. Chaves, 47, is concluding his sixth year as the leader of the EWU athletic department.

NACDA Executive Director Bob Vecchione explains the ADOY Award is essential because it highlights the efforts of athletics directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, campuses and their surrounding communities.

Basketball

Brady Bagby (West Valley High, Community Colleges of Spokane) will play basketball at Lewis-Clark State College during the upcoming season. Bagby, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 23 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Sasquatch.

• Former Whitworth standout Idris Lasisi signed a professional contract with a team in Antwerp, Belgium. Lasisi played for the Pirates during the 2011-12 season and earned All-Northwest Conference first-team honors during his single season of NCAA eligibility. He averaged 16.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Lasisi signed with St. Jan of Antwerp in Belgium’s top professional league.

A native of Belgium, Lasisi graduated in May with a degree in international business.

Golf

Whitworth freshman Oliver Rudnicki was named to the NCAA Division III All-America second team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Rucnicki earned All-West Region and All-Northwest Conference first-team honors. He tied for third place at the West Cup and tied for fourth place at the NWC Spring Classic and NWC Championship.

Cross country

Danny Amann of Deer Park is one of three athletes to sign letters of intent to attend Gonzaga in the fall.

Amann finished eighth at the State 2A cross country championships last fall and third at the State 2A track and field championships in the 800 meters.

Troy Fraley of Kalispell and Zac Garrard of Owensboro, Ky., also signed.
