ArtFest 2013 Three days of fine music, good food and the popular Make-It-Art children’s hands-on art making area, and more than 160 fine artists and craftspeople. 16th Annual ChalkArtWalk Annual event celebrating community pride and giving kids (and adults) an opportunity to show off in a positive way by harnessing and directing that graffiti urge. Drawing stops and judging begins at 3 p.m. Free and open to all. Cash prizes and merchandise will be awarded for first, second and third place in each of five age groups. The entry judged “Best of Show” also receives a prize package, and the winning artwork will be printed on the 2014 ChalkArtWalk T-shirts. The first 100 contestants to sign up will receive a free T-shirt featuring last year’s Best of Show winner, Brooke Plastino. A basic selection of chalk and hair spray fixative will be provided free, but participants are encouraged to bring their own chalk. Oil-based pastels are not allowed. New this year is entertainment provided by Tommy G and a vendor fair through 5 p.m. Local merchants will have specials running all day. Kids Safety Fair The ninth annual Safety Fair will emphasize bike, water and car safety; offer tours of emergency vehicles; and provide information about emergency contact cards and the Amber Alert system. Trinity Catholic School “Cow Plop” Street Carnival This year’s theme is “May the Plops Be With You … And Also With You!” Featuring a mechanical bull, pony/horse rides, games, arts and crafts, face painting and two live cows. Spokane Felts Field Neighbor Day Third annual event. Bring the family for a fun day celebrating aircraft and historic Felts Field. 10th Annual Parade of Paws A fun-packed two- or four-mile walk to benefit the animals at the Spokane Humane Society waiting for a forever home. You, your dog, family, co-workers and friends are all welcome to join in the fun for a great cause. Day-of-event registration starts at 8 a.m. Early registration is available Friday, June 7, from noon to 7 p.m. Collect pledges from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else. Spokane County Fire District 9 Annual Demo Day & Wellness Fair - Featuring demonstrations of auto accident rescue techniques and live firefighting.
