Obituary: Randolph, Mirium J.
Age 89
(Age 89) Mirium J. Randolph, also known as Junior, passed away peacefully in his home May 26, 2013 at the age of 89.
Junior was born May 15, 1924 in Bogue, Kansas, the son of Mirium and Lilly Randolph.
He is survived by his daughter Darla (Sam) Andrews of Spokane WA; son Alex (Linda) Bishop of Millwood WA; and son Rick (Joyce) Bishop of Ilwaco WA; grandchildren Danny, Joey (Rikki), Hillary, Matt, Tricia, and Tim; and great grandchildren Cameron, Bryan, Marissa, Allie, Quincy, Reese, Maggie, Lilyanna, and Isaiah.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deen, who passed away in March 2012, and five brothers and six sisters.
With great affection, he would tell the story of how he met Deen at a Grange Hall dance when they were both 18; and how he had boasted to his friends upon seeing her for the first time that this was the woman he would marry.
Sure enough, they were married when he returned from the war in 1946.
In 1955 they moved to the Spokane Valley.
Junior worked for forty years as a mechanic for the same company that started as a Dodge dealership and ended as a Honda dealership.
While working at Dishman Dodge, he was involved in starting the first Auto Mechanic’s Union in Spokane.
For 67 years Junior and Deen were joined at the hip.
They enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and gardening.
They were both active members of the VFW and the Berean Bible Church.
Also, Junior was selected to join the very first group by the Honor Flight Network to go to Washington D.C. to be honored for his service in the Navy.
Junior was a member of the “Greatest Generation.”
This means he grew up during The Great Depression and served during WWII.
Like others in his generation, he learned sacrifice and hard work.
He didn’t do things for fame or recognition, but because it was, “the right thing to do.”
