From staff reports
Coeur d’Alene police are continuing their search for a man they say held a woman at gunpoint Monday, and they’re asking the public for an assist. Douglas Standish, 49, has been sought by police after a call came in from a woman claiming Standish held her against her will Monday morning. The woman was released on Idaho Street shortly thereafter and immediately called police. Investigators say Standish and the woman knew each other. A search for Standish on Tubbs Hill, involving SWAT officers, was called off Tuesday night due to darkness, according to previous reports. Police have recovered the blue Town and Country van owned by the victim Standish was last seen driving, according to a news release. It was located in the 600 block of Hubbard Avenue at Harbor Plaza, police said. Standish is described by police as a white male, 5-feet 10-inches tall, weighing about 225 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities say Standish should be considered armed and dangerous. Those with information about Standish’s whereabouts are asked to contact Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest at their website or call 800-222-8477. A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to his capture.
