Barber began studying classical piano at 6 and enrolled at the University of Iowa with a double major in classical music and psychology. Eventually, she began performing with a jazz trio in Chicago, landing on the national music map following an appearance at the Gold Star Sardine Bar. Her most recent album is “Smash,” produced by Concord Records.

The Spokane Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Eckart Preu, will guide the audience through Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony, Bruckner’s Psalm 150, Tavener’s “Song of the Angel” featuring soprano Dawn Wolski, and Faure’s Requiem,with the Spokane Symphony Chorale and baritone Eugene Brancoveanu. A preconcert talk about the music will be held in the hall one hour before each performance.
