Spartans top Eagles for five-set win
Lindsay Niemeier and Allie Schumacher posted double-doubles, but it wasn’t enough to earn a victory as the Eastern Washington Eagles (3-3) fell 21-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-16, 15-17 to the San Jose State Spartans (2-5) in nonconference women’s volleyball action on Wednesday in San Jose, Calif.
Niemeier finished with 35 assists and 14 digs, while Schumacher tallied a team-high 14 kills and 10 digs.
Kylie Curtis added 10 kills for Eastern, while Allison Doerpinghaus notched five blocks.
Hanah Blume had a match-high 22 kills for San Jose State, while Mary O’Reilly had in with 17 kills.
The Eagles head to a tournament in San Diego for three matches this weekend.
