Obituary: Jewell, Barbara Ann

JEWELL, Barbara Ann (Age 59) Our dear Barbara passed away April 11, 2014, in Spokane, WA.

Barbara’s open nature attracted people from all walks of life, and everyone lucky enough to get to know her came to love her.

She was forever gracious, never prone to judge or criticize, always the peacemaker, and habitually forgiving.

Her shoulder was always there for anyone who needed it, and the phrase “I love you” would flow from her giving soul daily.

Today the world misses her loving presence as she ascends beyond the pain that often becomes life.

In heaven, as she was on earth, she is among loved ones.

Barbara was born in 1955 to Robert and Lois Glenn of Spokane.

As an adult she worked a variety of jobs, including Grantree, The Huggy Bear Ice Cream Truck, Rocky Mountain Bank Note, and for 20 years made the meanest Taco Bravo in town while employed at Taco John’s.

She met the love of her life, Robert Jewell, in 1973 and their daughters followed in 1981 and 1983.

They began their family in Otis Orchards and moved to Spokane in 1986, where Barbara remained until her death.

Barbara loved cruising around town in her cherry red ‘70 Mustang, and was happiest just soaking up sun.

She enjoyed gardening, camping with her family, and splashing around in the backyard pool.

Her loving and generous nature made her home a refuge for friends and animals needing a safe place to stay.

She is survived by husband John Jewell, daughters Hayley Jewell of Spokane and Whitney Bull of Randle, grandson Matias, and brothers Kelly Glenn, James Glenn, and Robert Glenn.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lois, first husband, Bob, and companion, John French.

We are sad without you, Barbara, but blessed to have known you.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home.
