Cougs DT Xavier Cooper steps up

Washington State junior defensive tackle Xavier Cooper took time at practice to answer five questions from sports writer Jacob Thorpe. Find this video and others on the WSU football team at spokesman.com/ sportslink.

Who is the hardest hitter on defense?

I would probably have to say (linebacker) Darryl Monroe.

Who is the toughest offensive linemen you have to face (in practice)?

Obviously, Joe Dahl and Gunnar Ecklund have the most experience. They’re good with their hands. They played against some good defensive linemen in the Pac, so they give me a run for my money every day in practice.

Which quarterback are you looking forward to sacking most next year?

Pretty much all of them, but (Oregon’s) Marcus Mariotta got away from me a couple times last year, so this year I owe him a couple of sacks.

What was your favorite game last season?

Probably the Apple Cup. It was a great game to play in. It’s a blessing to play in that game being that I’m from the West Side and it’s a rivalry.

What is your favorite video game?

The Batman series. Pretty animated and that’s my favorite cartoon. I grew up watching Batman all the time.
