Obituary: Hayden, Dorothy L.

HAYDEN, Dorothy L. Dorothy L. (Larson) Hayden, 90 passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014.

Dorothy grew up on her parents farm in Pasadena Park and lived for 63 years in a home only three miles from the farm.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Anny Larson, her sister Annabelle M. Larson, her husband Donald H. Hayden, and infant son.

Dorothy attended grade school at Millwood and attended West Valley High School.

Dorothy’s first job was at The Crescent in downtown Spokane, at M & L Drygoods and the Inland Empire Paper Company both in Millwood.

Dorothy also drove combine harvesting grass seed for Walter C. Wruble on the prairie.

Dorothy met her future husband through the efforts of a friend who worked with her mother at the Trentwood Aluminum Plant during the war; the friend’s husband was stationed at Geiger Field and was friends with Don.

They were married at the family home before Don’s unit was stationed overseas.

Survivors include her daughter Dr. Cheryl Ann Elchlepp (husband Bradley L. Elchlepp) of North Bend, WA, a cousin Carldon Le Fave and sons and their families of Moses Lake, Ephrata, and Spokane Valley, WA, second cousins of Spokane Valley, grandchildren Bandit, Cricket, and Spice of North Bend and numerous relatives in Sweden.

At Dorothy’s request, there was no service; interment is at the Pines Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to a favorite charity.
